2 Ways to Wear a Button Front Maxi Dress

We adore this modern, feminine take on a 90's buffalo check plaid sleeveless button front dress. It's sweet, meets edgy, and we love the versatility of the style.

As is almost always the case, we immediately removed the self-belt and added the chunky Cairo Belt for more definition in the waist and to tie in our hat and boots. On top, we paired our favorite Wide Brim Felt Hat and Kenda Kist Labradorite Arrowhead Choker, a delicate leather corded labradorite and sterling silver pendant with adjustable length.

Staying true to the grunge appeal of the dress, we had to grab the Free People Sounder Boot, a black leather lace-up combat boot--one of our must-have shoe styles for Spring!

Unbutton the dress, remove or tie back the belt, and get your layer on! We kept the palette soft, while adding texture in the lace trim, a little shimmer in the crystal necklace, glamour in the mysterious, statement bug-eyed sunglasses, and drama with the distressed high rise flare jeans.

Styling tip: Treat it as a sleeveless kimono and don't be afraid to layer it in place of a cardigan or kimono as the temperatures warm up! This look works with cutoffs and boots too.
